Young people should be at the heart of a new twinning for Wandsworth: having lost the most from Brexit and the removal of opportunities in the rest of Europe, they have the most to gain from a new dialogue with like-minded counterparts in another country.
With one or more active twinning arrangements in place for Wandsworth, local schools and colleges will:
- gain a new dimension across much of the curriculum, focusing on how our partner tackles the challenges facing young people in the 21st century;
- get fresh momentum into exchange visits, easing the way for educational trips to the twin town and reaping the benefits from hosting visits here;
- have the opportunity for a transformative boost to langauge learning, stoking enthusiasm and enhancing skills; and
- in some cases bring in extra resources which could ease pressures on the school all round.
